Places to Visit:
Perpignan. In Roussillon, French Catalonia, the energy vibrates more. Perpignan, has great music over the Summer, Salvador Dali gave it the reputation as being the center of the world, in September boasts one of the best festivals of photojournalism. Visit the wonderful Cathedral St-Jean, the Royal Palais des Rois de Majorque. Walking is a must as the city has a lot of architectural gems hidden at its centre.
Collioure. Picturesque fishing village, that became popular with artists - Matisse, Derain (Fauvism). Narrow streets, are full of little galleries and shops to tempt the visitor.

Ceret. Pretty town - Once home to Picasso, and Chagall, hosts good museum of modern art. Has lively festivals, and well worth visiting on market day (Saturday).
Font Romeu. Skiing center, with nearby Odeillo - a dramatic solar power station, now no longer used.
Yellow Train (Train Jaune). From Latour de Carol and Villefranche, narrow guage railway with tremendous views. Discover other tourist trains.
VilleFranche-de-Conflent is especially worth visiting, dating back 1000 years teh village boasts 2 fine castles with walls to explore.
