Mende. Capital of Lozere. Quiet untouched center - visit 14C Cathedral - or go to the Wolf reserve at Parc du Gévaudan, or the 200 ha Bison reserve at Ste Eulalie.
Millau. Still known as glove making center, is now famous for the Millau Viaduct designed by Sir Norman Foster - one of the tallest road bridges in the world
Florac. Great place to stay to explore the Cevennes. Follow in the footsteps of RS Stevenson and hire a donkey as a companion, or in Winter endeavour is cross country skiing..
For an outing take the Cevennes Steam train from St Jean du Gard.
