Surrounded by the chestnut trees of the South French Cevennes, in some of the most unpopulated areas of France, 80 km N.W. from Nimes, you'll find the 12th century Mas "La Combe de Ferriere": a haven of peace,and nature. There is a swimming pool with barbecue, the jeu de boules as well as the campsite, gites, rooms to rent, cottage. Views abount. In the house you'll find the bar/reception/communal room with maxi open fire and mini first-aid shop, games, information about the region, described (in English) walking tours , geographical maps you can borrow and mountain bikes as well as hammocks you can rent. On the big terrace with its magnificent view we serve the communal evening meal, with always a vegetarian option. Half or full board is also possible. In season the baker passes every day. The grounds are 90 acres, with a small stream and its 400 metres between the highest and the lowest point. Visits are possible of the mas with its hidden room, medieval gate and secret passage. The owners speak English fluently. Nearby there are donkeys and horses for hire; an hours drive you can rent a canoe, go rock-climbing, visit one of the many little local museums or the famous bamboo garden in Anduze. Nimes (Roman relics), Arles (van Gogh) and Uzes (duke-city) are at 1,5 hours drive. The local villageof St. Michel de Deze with a grocery and baker is at 5 km from the resort, the post office, butcher, doctor and dentist are at 8 km and the nearest bank and train station are at La Grand 'Come/La Pise at 25 km.
