Le Four a Chaux has three double bedrooms, one en-suite
with bath, shower & WC; with a second shower, WC,
and utility room, all on the Ground floor.
The house has a fully equipped kitchen / diner with oven, hob,
multi function microwave, dishwasher, coffee
maker, two fridges, freezer and washing machine.
From the kitchen, French windows lead to a tiled terrace, with
a large BBQ, which overlooks the rear garden and the village
below. This terrace faces west and catches the sun from midday to sunset. The large
rear garden is enclosed, ideal for pets, with a 4.5M diameter
plunge pool.
There is a second east facing terrace at the front of the house,
which is perfect for breakfast, or just coffee, in the morning sun.
Inside there is a ground floor lounge with a log burning
fire and stairs leading to a spacious mezzanine floor with TV (English ‘free
to air’ satellite) and video.

Puisserguier has a history that dates back to medieval times, and belongs to a type of village called "the circulades". This style of architecture comes from the Romanesque period where the streets are built in concentric circles around the base of the chateau, which itself dates from the 11th Century, and brings back memories of Simon de Montfort and the Cathar Wars of 1209. Parts of the original walls of Puisserguier can be found around the village, and in the Rue Parmentier and the Impasse Lapeyronie you will find the remains of old water wells. These originally led to underground passages that connected with the castle at Maureilhan and the 17th Century priory of St Christophe, which lies in the pinewoods just outside the village in the direction of Cazedarnes. It was thought by the villagers of the time that St Christophe protected them, and their valuable vineyards that are so important to the economy of Puisserguier. It is also said that Saint Clementine came to Puisserguier.
There are a good number of shops and services in Puisserguier including butchers, bakers, places to buy fish and fruit; hair salon, bank, post office, tabac, pizzeria, and bars. There is even a Taxi! and a weekly market on Fridays.
SURROUNDING AREA
Vineyards as far as the eye can see, rural France at its very best. Situated between the Black Mountains and the beach, the region benefits from a truly Mediterranean climate where the sun shines, on average, 300 days of the year. With excellent wines and superb restaurants, Languedoc Roussillon offers a French experience that is unique. Carcassonne, Perpignan and Montpellier airports are all within 50 miles. Spain, Andorra & the Pyrennees are within easy reach and the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean are only 20 minutes away. Golf, fishing, horse riding, tennis, canoeing, walking, wine tasting and a selection of excellent restaurants are all to be found nearby.
