Rent this belle Languedoc holiday villa, located in a secluded setting, amongst fir trees with view across vines, in a seemingly private valley. Across from the main house is a spectacular swimming pool, with rock surround, with pool house.
25 minutes from Narbonne (TGV Paris). 45 minutes from Spain, 50 mins from Carcassonne. International airports: Toulouse - 90 mins, Montpellier (60 mins), Barcelona - 135 mins, Perpignan (30 mins) & Carcassonne (50 mins) - both served by Ryan Air with flights to London and Brussels.

The villa is approached by a country road, a few kilometers from the village, through vineyards and woods, and is located on the side of a hill overlooking a seemingly private valley with views of surrounding fir woods and vines. It is quiet, secluded, private. The grounds are on undulating grounds, part grass, part fir trees, with old remains of a Roman fountain in the form of wells.
Entry to the house can be from above or below - each provides a parking area. From above there is a large parking area, with access to the upper floor of the main house. Below to the left is the pool house with large swimming pool, landscaped with a rock surround.
ACCOMMODATION
Entering from the upper parking area, one enters the living/dining room with marble tiled floor, large open fireplace, comfortable couches, and easy chairs; with double glass French windows opening out onto a large curved terrace, with sun furniture for outside dining and sunbathing. To the left of the room is a large dining room table for 8 persons. A door leads into the kitchen, with dining table for 4 persons, dishwasher, microwave, sink, stove with overhead extractor fan. Another door from the kitchen opens onto the terrace which is accessible from the living/dining room. Also off from the kitchen is a utility room with refrigerator, and washing machine. There is also a separate W.C. and washbasin.
Stairs lead down from the living/dining room to a central corridor, off which there is a twin bedroom with 2 single beds, and a step exercise machine, with French window opening onto a shared terrace that runs along the side of the villa. Further along the corridor is a red double bedroom, also with French window onto terrace, as well as a washbasin and bidet, accessible by opening a closet. Next door is another twin bedroom with 2 single beds, French window onto terrace, and bidet and washbasin in a closet. At the end of the corridor, there is a bathroom with shower, bathtub, W.C. and bidet.
A door leads from the corridor into the back courtyard area, reached by a series of steps. If approached from this side of the house, this could be considered the entrance. Steps lead around to the terrace that accesses the bedroom, as well as steps lead up to the back of the house.

Across from the main house, steps on a gentle incline reach the pool house, with refrigerator, a covered outside eating and drinking area, and large tiled area that borders the large swimming pool (13m X 4 - 6m; with depths from 1m to 2.5m). A number of sunbathing recliners are available, as well as dining table, parasol, and chairs. The pool is surrounded on 3 sides by fir trees, with a rock surround on 3 sides, that on one side has a fairly steep bank climbing up from it.
The house is equipped with WI-FI internet access via ADSL.

SURROUNDING AREA
Croix du Courtigues is within 5 minutes drive of Sigean, which has all the services, from grocery stores, bakeries, to restaurants, and cafés. 7 kms drive is an African reserve, - a drive through wild animal reserve. 8 minutes drive are the Mediterranean beaches that stretch from Port La Nouvelle to La Franqui. Access is excellent as Sigean is an exit off the autoroute from Montpellier to Barcelona, which connects with the autoroute from Toulouse. The route nationale also gives direct access to the airport at Perpignan.
There is plenty to see and do - to the north is Narbonne (20 minutes) with its imposing cathedral, archbishop's palace, roman remains as well as shops, including popular markets, including a very large Sunday market. Just to the east are more beaches, stretching from Gruissan, with its marina, wind surfing, beaches, to Narbonne Plage, and St Pierre sur Mer. Further northwards is Beziers, with old city, a large flower market, and the Feria in the Summer months.
45 minutes to the east up the Aude valley is Carcassonne one of the wonders of Medieval architecture with its splendid cité and castle, with splendid views. More magnificent castles are to be found near in the Corbieres, immediately to the east of the house, particularly at Queribus and Peyrepertuse, two stunning feats of engineering, these castles seemingly defy gravity and reason, on top of mountain peaks.
For those seeking a quieter or more meditative outing - Fontfroide, a pretty Cistercian abbey is 30 minutes drive, and for those who view on their stomach, attached is a Michelin starred restaurant. Further into the Corbieres is Lagrasse - with historic abbey, streets, with art galleries, shops, and often fairs for antiques, books, pottery or festivals for Jazz.
To the south are the Catalonian splendors of Perpignan, with the castle once home of the Kings of Majorca, a beautiful cathedral; and don't miss the cloisters at Elne - with unbelievable sculptural designs; or the pleasures of Collioure where sea and mountain tempted the artistic palate of the likes of Picasso and Malliol.
