In the heart of Languedoc, and Cathar country, close to Lezignan Corbieres, and 30 minutes from Carcassonne (medieval city, with world renowned 13th century chateau, and UNESCO world heritage Canal du Midi - you will enjoy living in a country house dating from the 19th century.

ACCESS: AIRPORTS: Carcassonne (30 mins) and Toulouse (75 mins) where car hire facilities are available. Other international airports are Montpellier (1 1/2 hours), Perpignan (1 hour), and Gerona ( 2 hours). TRAINS: There is a SNCF railway station in Lezignan Corbieres connecting to TGV rail throughout France. AUTO: The house is only 5 minutes away from exit #25 on the A61.
 

DETAILS OF ACCOMMODATION

The rental part of the house has 560 sq.m. approx - roomy and comfortable for 18 people (Groundfloor 240m2, Upstairs 320m2). Entry is into a large entrance hall, with at the far end an old bathroom with WC. In the left wing you will discover 3 magnificent salons (55m2, 45m2, and 40m2), a large dining room (10 m long) with fireplace, and 2 service rooms behind.

In the right wing, you will find the kitchen, and a back kitchen, equipped with a 4 ring gas stove top, electric oven, dishwasher, 2 fridges with freezer, microwave oven, washing machine. There is a separate WC.

Upstairs there are 9 large bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, coming off a corridor:
Bedroom 1: with bed 1m60 - with en suite shower room with door connecting to
Bedroom 2: with bed 1m20
Bedroom 3: with bed 1m40 and bed 1m20 - with en suite shower room.
In the corridor: 1 WC, 1 large bathroom with shower

Outside

The chateau is surrounded by a park of 10 hectares, with 100yr old trees, with a sense relaxation and calm. In the park is a swimming pool, 13m x 7 m, for the sole use of the renters of the chateau. Equipment includes parasols, sun furniture, a BBQ and table tennis table.

Next to the park is an Equestrian center - where horse riding is possible. There is a caretaker close by, and a cleaner/maid is available if required.

Chateau de Gaujac, is close to Lezignan Corbieres, where you find shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, cafés, doctors, dentist, as well as a wine museum, and numerous places to taste the distinguished Corbieres wine in the surrounding vineyards.

All kinds of activities are available in the area, - next to the chateau is an equestrian centre for horse riding; a good golf course is 30 minutes at Carcassonne; the surrounding countryside and hills there are a plethora of walking and mountain bike trails; in the upper Aude its possible to do white water rafting and canoeing. For those that love music the area explodes with music festivals over the Summer months, as well as fairs and markets for local products and delicacies

Carcassonne is the premiere place to visit with its Medieval city crowned by a cathedral and 13th century castle - featured in many films - and centerpiece of music festivals, firework displays, and historic pageantry. Nearby too is Limoux, known for its Carnival, medieval streets, and its sparkling white wine; and a some miles further is Rennes Le Chateau - one of the mystical places featured in the Da Vinci code and Holy Blood Holy Grail.

Through the central valley of the Aude runs the UNESCO heritage masterwork - the Canal du Midi, with its lovely lines of plain trees, canal side restaurants, and picturesque boats.

Passing by Narbonne with its Archbishop's palace, roman history the glorious sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are only 30 minutes drive from the Chateau.
