4 Lovely Gites in a converted marble mill,
with a swimming pool and a large garden
along side the small river ‘L’Argent Double’ and just a 15 minute stroll into Caunes – Minervois. Surrounded by the foot hills of the ‘Montagne Noire’, Au Pont Romain is a great place to relax or as a base from which to explore this beautiful part of France.

All our Gite kitchens are well equipped and have a refrigerator, 4-burner gas hob, Microwave oven and everything else you will require to cater for your holiday.
The apartments also have a TV, DVD player and Music centre with a small selection of DVD’s and CD’s. Each Gite has its own furnished patio with a gas BBQ.
All linen and towels are provided and changed weekly. A washing machine is available on request for a small charge.
There is a Cot and High chair available on request, but you need to provide your own linen for the cot.
If you are feeling energetic we have bikes, In various sizes that you can hire by the day or weekly.

Sleeps 4, one double, and one twin, with an extra single bed on the large landing area if required.
This is a lovely two storey Gite with a private patio giving direct access to the garden and swimming pool.
The ground floor is open plan consisting of sitting room with wood burning stove, kitchen and dining area.
The bathroom is also on this floor.
A wooden staircase leads upstairs to the large landing and on to the two bedrooms.

A superb three bedroom Gite beside the river, -you enter through the large veranda. The sitting/dining area is light and airy, with a wood burning stove for the winter months.
The master double bedroom leads off this, up two steps. This bedroom has a large window with wonderful views of the garden and mountains beyond.
The kitchen, leads off from the sitting/dining room,
includes a dish washer and large fridge freezer.
From the kitchen there is access to the bathroom
and the two other bedrooms, one a twin and one
with large bunk beds.
There is a private furnished patio area along
side the river with a gas BBQ.

LE PONT
Sleeps 4
Le Pont is at the front of the property, facing south
Where it has a view of the roman bridge,
‘
Le Pont Romain’.
This is a two bedroom Gite on one level
which sleeps four people.
You enter into the spacious sitting/dining area,
the kitchen leads on from this.
The bathroom and the two bedrooms,
one a large double and the other with
large bunk beds, lead off from the kitchen.
There is a furnished patio at the front of the Gite
with a gas BBQ.

In the heart of the property, ‘Le Moulin’ is a one bedroom Gite.
You enter from the furnished patio with gas BBQ at the south facing front of the property.
The hall leads through to the kitchen.
Back in the hall a spiral staircase leads you up to the very spacious sitting/dining area. The large double bedroom leads off from here and from the bedroom along a passage and you will find the bathroom

ABOUT THE AREA
Caunes – Minervois is a small medieval town
with a bank, shops and restaurants.
There is a famous Abbey showing off to
impressive effect, the equally famous pink
marble, which is still quarried just outside the
town. The centre around the abbey has
wonderful narrow streets, to wander through
and explore.
If you have not explored this area of France
before you will find a wealth of fascinating
(and tragic) history, dramatic scenery and
of course we are in the Minervois, a major
and good wine producing region.
We have a weekly wine tasting evening where
we show off some of the best wines produced
in this region. You may then purchase them
from us if you wish. Of course along with the
wine comes the food and there are many local
food markets in the surrounding towns and
villages, a great opportunity to try and buy
local produce.
Here is a list of places you may like to visit
whilst you stay with us.
You cannot visit Carcassonne with out wandering
around ‘La Cite’, this medieval city is the largest
remaining city of it’s type, and fascinating to go round.
The beautiful city of Narbonne is a 40 min drive
away and the beaches of Narbonne and the
Mediterranean coast, are 50 mins away.
A day trip to Barcelona and or Andorra is possible
both being about three to four hours away, quite a
long drive but well worth it. There is a rich Cathar history with the
amazing
Castles at Lastours and the extraordinary walled
city of Minerve, which are both worth a visit.
We have an endless supply of leaflets in our Gites
giving information on almost anything you could wish
to do.
ACCESS
Flying to Carcassonne is the best route to your
holiday with us at ‘Au Pont Romain’. Ryan Air
flights leave from Stansted Airport twice a day
in the summer period and the flight takes about
an hour and a half. You can also fly by Ryan Air
to Carcassonne from Liverpool.
Alternative routes are possible from Birmingham
airport to Perpignan or Toulouse with Flybe and
Ryan air also have flights to Toulouse from Bristol,
Edinburgh, Glasgow and Southampton. Flights into
to Montpellier are also available.
Drive times from airports to ‘Au Pont Romain’ are
approximately as follows -
Carcassonne – 25 minutes, Toulouse – 90 minutes,
Perpignan – 60 minutes, Montpellier – 90 minutes.
